San Diego Elder Care is a small family business operated by my husband, Gary and myself, Nikky. Gary has 20+ years of experience in healthcare industry; I am a CFA, CPA and MBA and have an extensive background in finance.
I volunteered in elder care industry for over 4 years before I and Gary decided that it’s time to start something of our own. We both are born and raised in India and caring for elderly comes naturally to us because we have seen our parents take care of our grandparents all our lives. We strongly believe that compassion cannot be taught, but is innate. We feel like since we started this business, we both have found our life’s purpose.
The feeling when a 90 year old resident with dementia, who doesn’t even remember their own family, but gives you a huge smile and a hug, the moment they see you, is indescribable.
We started to build on our dream and passion with 1 facility in Point Loma in 2016, and slowly grew to 8 locations and counting in San Diego county in a short time. We come with a wide range of experience in all fields of the elder care industry.
All our homes are 6-15 resident assisted living and memory care communities that offer residents the love and care of being in a home away from home. It is a perfect fit for seniors seeking senior living options in a home like setting in and around San Diego. We have locations in Escondido, El Cajon, La Mesa, Poway and Point Loma. We are soon expanding in Vista, Clairemont and National City.
Our philosophy at San Diego Elder Care is simple – provide personalized, upscale, and resident-centered care in order to meet individual preferences and needs. We take a lot of pride in our staff and have extremely loving, always caring and highly trained caregivers at home. All homes also have a house manager to provide supervision and guidance to caregivers to provide the best care possible to our residents.
We provide a choice of amenities to promote a relaxing experience for individuals residing in our community. We organize recreational activities such as walks, stretching exercises, board games, puzzles to stimulate residents’ sensory functions, promoting interaction with caregivers and other residents, aromatherapy, music therapy, massages, movie nights, karaoke sessions, among others. We also call singers and other companionship volunteers to spend time with our residents. Residents’ family members and friends are always encouraged to get involved in our facility’s activities.
All our homes have hospice waivers, bedridden waiver and can accept residents with all levels of dementia. We are one of the most preferred board and care facilities for several renowned agencies like St Paul’s PACE, San Diego PACE, St Paul’s McColls and UCSD and hospices like Apreva Hospice, Advantage Hospice, Seacoast Hospice among others.
